Again, they come really cheap, and children love the taste. No wonder they are the ultimate go-to food for every college student strapped for money. We all know that eating instant noodles is not healthy. We all have a common misconception that noodles aren’t harmful either. Even, adding fresh vegetables can’t counteract the harmful effects of instant noodles.

1. Digestive issues

Instant noodles are designed to digest slowly and make you feel full for longer. This is far more harmful than it sounds. Studies revealed the stomach is working hard, to break down the noodles. The noodles remained undigested for a long time and severely strained the digestive tract. The longer the noodles stay in the system more time the harmful preservatives get to make you sick.

2. Increase chances of Heart Attacks

Studies have shown that the people who eat instant noodles 3-4 times a week have developed prevalence “Metabolic Syndromes”. This syndrome includes high blood pressure, high sugar levels, increased fat content, raised blood cholesterol and high levels of triglyceride. All these factors are considered as early symptoms of Heart attacks, diabetes, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.

3. Increased Risk of Cancer

The main preservatives added to instant noodles are Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and t-butyl hydroquinones (TBHQ), which prevent rancidness and keep them usable longer. According to the American Cancer Society, BHA is “reasonably anticipated” as being a human carcinogen.

 

BHA doubles and TBHQ triples the shelf life of instant noodles. These chemicals are listed in the chemicals with endocrine-disrupting effects. The endocrine system is responsible for the production and regulation of hormones, a disruption of which is likely to cause several adverse developmental, immune, neurological and reproductive effects.

4. Can Induce Diabetes

Made from white flour, that doesn’t have nutrient-rich parts of a wheat kernel are the germ and the bran. All that remains in Instant noodle is nutrient-devoid carbohydrates in the form of starch. Carbohydrates increase the blood sugar levels in your body, thereby increasing the risk of diabetes.
